Where do I start with this? It’s such a mess.
I am just typing a sentence now.
How about today, let’s start at 8/26/2021.
Hello!
I’m excited to be starting a blog today!
This blog is about something that I currently don’t know if I would advise others to do! I’m officially day-jobless and focusing on drawing a web comic called Annex:Anima which I have been conceptualizing and writing for a few years now. I’m very excited! I am not actually mentally prepared, but when will I ever be?
My name is Casey Bridgham. A bit about me: I’m 30. I like drawing and playing video games. I think I’m very good at visualizing concepts. I have ADHD and lot of anxieties and shit like that! Cool! I just resigned from my day job to begin a couple of creative endeavors. You can read my take on that here, but I’ll skip it on this blog for now. I’m not a sequential artist by trade, nor by training. I’m a BFA game designer and an MFA graphic designer. Lastly, I like to grow and develop skills of all kinds.
Great!
This comic project is currently called Annex:Anima. It’s a story that touches on philosophy, psychology, video games and personal transformation. I’ve been taking billions of notes, writing drafts and practicing my drawing abilities for a few years now with the intent of making SOMETHING out of it. It has a lot of moving parts to it and I’m kind of terrified that it may be a contrived nightmare disguised as the thing I have to do with my life right now. That would be unfortunate! But, I’m dangerously optimistic about this. It just feels right.
If you got this far, thank you very much! I hope you stick around! I’ll be updating this blog with my progress and thoughts as I wrap up the script and begin drafting the panels of this comic. There’s a lot I want to talk about and so much to do. I’ve got a lot more practice ahead of me and I’m becoming comfortable with letting go of the pursuit of perfection. This has to move, now or never.
I hope it will be a long but worthwhile endeavor. I’ll document it here.
